A Continuation of the Waiting Game

It's been crazy to compile our lives into a pile of documents for review. Birth certificate, marriage certificate, finances, college attendance, where we've lived, how we've lived, our hopes and dreams...

With one agency that we're partnering with, we're almost halfway through our documentation to start our home study. We're hoping to start our home study after our health screens that are coming up in the next two weeks. For those who might be unfamiliar, a home study is where somebody comes by to make sure our house and family are sufficient for a child. Outlet covers, no chemicals in low places, the whole nine yards. Once the case worker gives us the okay, we will then be waiting to be "matched." With the other agency, we're ultimately waiting to get out of the starting blocks with the first agency before proceeding.

We're still very excited, but it does come in waves. Sometimes, we're over the moon ready to morph my office into what will be. And, other times, we're realistic and aware that this whole process could take years and so we continue on with our lives like normal. It's a very odd experience, but despite that, we're still very thankful to be in the thick of it.
