Perhaps a "garbage sale" will do the trick

We're thinking long and hard about fundraisers, what will gain the most traction in terms of support, fun, and ease, and what won't be a nuisance to our loved ones. There's a lot of nervousness in fundraising and asking for money. It's such a taboo, and humble, idea to let everybody know that we need and want help.
We've been asked a lot as to why adoption is so expensive. I'm not entirely sure to be honest, but I do know that this is a leap of faith for us in general. There are so many unknowns, including cost. I'm very type A, so being out of control and in the dark is not a comfortable place for me to sit in. Despite the discomfort, it is the most humbled I think I have been in my life so far. And that's coming from a woman who moved to Oklahoma to pursue a dream she had for less than three months without a single Google search, other than "schools for chemical engineering," at 18 years old.
Will the money come?
Lord willing.
Will we have a successful match and placement?
Lord willing.
So, where does that put us?
In terms of fundraising, we will be doing a puzzle fundraiser (to be announced on Facebook hopefully later today, pending a photo with Andrew) and... the great idea I had over lunch... a garage sale. Or, as my grandpa lovingly calls them, a "garbage sale."
Tomorrow.
Most of the sale will likely consist of books that I've been keeping a white knuckle grip on since high school. Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, A Clockwork Orange... you know, the classics. Of course, there are other things that we've been hoarding in our cellar that we will drag out in hopes of finding a new home for them. While Andrew is at school unaware of our Saturday plans, I've placed the treasures in a neat pile for now.
Will it make us millions?
No.
Will it make some much needed space on our bookshelf?
Lord willing.

For those that have already given or are planning to give, thank you. We are so grateful to have your support and love. Saying thanks is not enough to relay how blessed we truly are.
For those who don't have the means to give, we understand. We truly do. I have been in many positions where my heart wanted so desperately to give, but my wallet was empty.
Regardless, we are excited to keep you updated. Happy Friday, everybody.
